Nikkei Asiaの報道によると、AppleはiPhone Airの販売不振を受け、生産量を大幅に削減することを計画しているそうです。Nikkei Asiaが複数の関係者に取材したところ、AppleはiPhone Airの生産受注を「生産終了」レベルにまで削減する見込み。Nikkei Asiaに情報提供したサプライチェーンマネージャーは、2025年11月から始まる生産受注について「9月と比べて10％以下になる」と証言したそうです。
Appleは中国でのiPhone Airの発売日を10月22日としたため、今回のiPhone Airの需要がほぼゼロという情報は、中国市場以外でのことを示唆しているようだとビジネス誌のFortuneは指摘しています。市場調査企業・KeyBanc Capital Marketsの調査によると、iPhone Airの需要は事実上ゼロで、折りたたみ式に対する需要も限られているとのこと。なお、KeyBanc Capital Marketsの調査は投資家向けに行われたものですが、iPhone Airと同日に発売されたiPhone 17シリーズの需要は依然として健全なままで、「Pro/Pro Maxモデルへの移行が続いている」ことが明らかになっています。
